Instructions

Make the Meatballs:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

        - Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

          - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until browned and cooked through, or when the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

            Prepare the Sauce:

              - While the meatballs are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

                - Add the diced onion and sauté for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

                  - Pour in the crushed tomatoes, add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

                    Cook the Spaghetti:

                      - In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

                        Combine and Serve:

                          - Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and let them simmer together for about 5 minutes.

                            - To serve, plate a generous portion of spaghetti, ladle the meatballs and sauce over the top, and garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of extra Parmesan.
