Ingredients

2 large yellow onions

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

Cooking spray

Instructions

Prep the Onions: Slice the onions into 1/2-inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings and set them aside in a bowl.

Make the Breading Station: In one bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In a second bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them until well blended. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

Coat the Onion Rings: Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture first, coating thoroughly. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the egg wash, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, coat it with the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well. Place the coated onion rings on a plate or wire rack.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Onion Rings: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the basket, making sure they aren’t overcrowded. Spray the tops gently with cooking spray.

Cooking Process: Air fry the onion rings at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking and crispiness. Keep an eye on them towards the end to ensure they reach your desired level of crispiness.

Serving: Once golden brown and crispy, remove the onion rings from the air fryer. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, ketchup, or spicy aioli.
