Ingredients

12 mozzarella string cheese sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 cup seasoned bread crumbs (panko preferred)

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking spray or olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

Prep the Cheese: Cut each mozzarella string cheese stick in half, making 24 shorter sticks.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, the eggs whisked with milk in the second, and a mixture of seasoned bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.

Bread the Cheese: Take a mozzarella stick, coat it in the flour, shaking off excess. Then, dip it into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Finally, coat it well in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure it adheres. Repeat for all mozzarella sticks.

Chill the Sticks: Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for 30 minutes. This step is crucial to help the cheese hold its shape during baking.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare for Baking: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Lightly spray them with cooking spray or brush with olive oil to help achieve a golden color.

Bake: Arrange the sticks on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then flip the sticks and bake for another 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Let the mozzarella sticks cool for a few minutes, then serve them warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
