Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

3/4 cup warm water

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: chili flakes, for added heat

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir well to combine. Gradually add warm water and 1 tablespoon of olive oil while mixing with your hands or a wooden spoon, until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

Rest the Dough: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature. This will allow the gluten to relax, making it easier to roll out.

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well and set aside.

Roll Out the Flatbreads: After resting, divide the dough into four equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece into a thin circle or oval, about 1/8 inch thick.

Cook the Flatbreads: Heat a large skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy. Flip the flatbread, reduce the heat slightly, and brush with the garlic butter mixture. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the garlic to lightly crisp and infuse the flatbread with flavor.

Garnish and Serve: Once all flatbreads are cooked, drizzle with any remaining garlic butter, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and add a pinch of chili flakes if desired. Serve warm alongside your favorite dip or as a side to your meal.
