Ingredients

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: Sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine chopped spinach, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, minced garlic, onion powder, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined.

Roll Out the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and press the seams together to form a solid rectangle without perforations.

Spread the Filling: Evenly spread the spinach and cheese mixture over the entire surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Roll Up the Dough: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Make sure to roll it evenly for consistent pinwheels.

Slice the Pinwheels: Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces. You should get about 8-10 pinwheels.

Prepare for Baking: Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning on top for added flavor.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm as a delicious appetizer or snack!
