To achieve the perfect balance of flavor and texture in your Garlic Butter Bliss Pasta, timing is key when it comes to incorporating the peas. If you are using frozen peas, wait until the pasta is almost done cooking before adding them to the pot. This ensures that the peas heat through without overcooking, preserving their vibrant green color and sweet flavor. Typically, you can add the peas during the last two minutes of the pasta’s cooking time. They will cook through perfectly while also retaining a delightful bite, adding both nutrition and a pop of color to your dish.

Ingredients

8 oz spaghetti or linguine

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup frozen peas (thawed)

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure not to brown it.

Add the Peas: Stir in the thawed peas and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the peas are warmed through.

Combine: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter and peas. Toss to combine. If the mixture appears dry, gradually stir in some of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.

Season: Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped parsley, lemon zest, and lemon juice, mixing well.

Serve: Divide the pasta among plates or bowls, and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Garnish with extra parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
