Ingredients

1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

4 cloves garlic, minced

3 tablespoons olive oil

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures a crispy finish for the Brussels sprouts.

Prep the Brussels Sprouts: In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Toss them together until the Brussels sprouts are evenly coated.

Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Make sure they are not overcrowded to allow for even roasting.

Roast in the Oven: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for about 20-25 minutes. About halfway through (at the 12-13 minute mark), shake the pan or stir the sprouts for even cooking.

Add Parmesan: When the Brussels sprouts are golden brown and tender, remove them from the oven and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese all over. Return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt and get golden.

Drizzle and Garnish: Once out of the oven, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the hot Brussels sprouts. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness.

Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and enjoy them warm as a delicious side or even a main attraction!
