Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and the sesame oil. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prep the vegetables.

Prepare the Broccoli: If using fresh broccoli, blanch the florets in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until vibrant green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using), sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the broccoli and sliced bell pepper, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Combine and Sauce: Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and the oyster sauce, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added flavor and crunch.
